One-to-one bespoke class £55ph or £50ph when buying in a block of 6

Where do the classes take place?

In my beautiful, peaceful and private garden yoga studio in Saffron Walden, Essex. Parking is on site and all props provided.

Why invest in yoga at The Yoga Shed?

Individual and small group yoga classes offer a unique opportunity to experience a personalised and dedicated experience of yoga. Traditionally yoga was passed on from one guru to one ‘seeker’ and this way the yoga was adapted to the seeker. One-to-one and small classes are a much more condensed and efficient way to experience yoga when compared to a group class.

What should I wear/bring?

I suggest you wear stretchy cotton (min 90%) clothing which doesn’t distract you by flopping about when you are in a forward bend. Close-fitting long tops which stay on your hips when you move. Try to come with an empty stomach or if very hungry before class have a banana/nuts. This way you can move more easily. Mats are provided, but you may want a towel and water.

Do I need to be flexible before starting?

You don’t need to be anything before starting - the important thing is just to start!

How does payment work?

I offer payment plans to suit individual needs. Cash, card or transfer.

What if I miss a class?

With one-to-one classes there is a 24 hours notice period if cancelling a class. Small groups classes cannot be cancelled.

Can I park at the studio?

Yes there is plenty of parking on site.

I’m nervous I won’t be any good, and hold up the class.

Because classes are so small, I offer modifications for every student so you will never feel pressurised into keeping up or do something you don’t want to do.

I can’t do yoga as I’m too stiff and inflexible.

Yoga increases flexibility slowly. Are you inflexible in your body or your mind?

I don’t have a yoga mat or any equipment.

Mats are provided and I also offer excellent mats for sale for £40.

I have an existing medical condition or complaint and am nervous about making it worse.

Always check with your health professional that yoga is suitable for you. I ask students to fill in a questionnaire so I can design the class around your needs.

I feel emotional in my life at the moment and fear I might break down in front of other people.

This can happen during class and you are welcome to sit the class out if it is too much for you, or quietly leave. I encourage students to do what is right for them at any one time.

I don’t want anyone to know about my mental/physical state, what’s your privacy policy?

I keep all records confidential and will ask you how you’d like me to store them. You will receive an ‘Adjustment Permission’ card next to your mat which quietly informs me how you are feeling that day.

I don’t know anything about Yoga philosophy or how it works

Yoga is a profound spiritual practice in which you are asked to go inside yourself both physically and mentally to learn who you are. The postures are one part of it but the purpose of yoga is to unite the body/mind and reach ‘enlightenment’ or freedom from the ‘fluctuations of the mind.’ Practice and all is coming. Theres no reason why you can’t have fun doing it!

What style of yoga do you teach?

I do not prescribe one ‘style’ of yoga, preferring to start with the body as an entry point. 

Will it suit me?

Your class is tailored to your preferences. Do you want to try a kinder approach to your health with less push/pull and more ease and balance? Do you want a workout style yoga practice focusing on technical skills or strength building? Do you need a yoga practice to primarily improve your mental health? I will help you find your own way.
